Ontario—A domestic dispute Sunday led to the arrest of a 26-year-old female after police said she spit on an Ontario Police Department officer.
Lanada Tetton, 26, was arrested and charged with assaulting a public safety officer, resisting arrest, harassment and disorderly conduct.
The incident began when police responded to the 1100 block of Northwest 22nd Avenue and found Tetton to be intoxicated.
“She was intoxicated, uncooperative and ended up spitting on an Ontario police officer,” OPD Capt. Mark Alexander said. “She had to be physically restrained.”
In other public safety news, Ontario police responded to a vandalism complaint at a local business Sunday night.
Alexander said an alert witness spotted a group of youths throwing rocks at Cone’s Automotive, situated at 1109 N. Oregon St., and flagged down a passing officer to report the crime. Two of the youths, both 14-year-old boys from Ontario, were arrested near Manor Way and North Oregon Street. They were charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct and were released to their parents.
Alexander said a 1992 Chevy van’s front and side windows were broken, causing an estimated $500 in damages. Monday, another vehicle was discovered damaged at the establishment, though Alexander did not have further information on the damages at press time.
Alexander also said the Ontario Police Department is still looking for more information regarding the theft of two utility vehicles from the Ontario Golf Course Friday.
The two utility vehicles, a John Deere Gator and a Toro Workman, were abandoned after the theft, with one found in the Owyhee Canal and the other discovered in a corn field, half a mile west of the course. Alexander said a metal chain-link fence in the northwest corner of the course was damaged as the thieves fled the area, causing $200 in damage. Alexander said the department currently has no suspects and encouraged anyone with any information about the incident to contact the police department.
The Malheur County Sheriff’s Office cited an Ontario man for failing to obey a traffic control device after a deputy said he ran through a controlled intersection near Butte and Foothill drives 11:03 Saturday.
Robert Findeley, 18, was also issued a citation for driving while suspended and minor in possession of alcohol. His 1992 Dodge pickup was impounded.
Saturday afternoon, the sheriff’s office arrested an Ontario woman for felon in possession of a firearm after neighbors complained that she was shooting cats and squirrels that entered her property situated on Northwest 34th Street outside of Ontario.
Cathlene Blanton, 36, was arrested and taken to the Malheur County Jail.
