Takatori

Dec. 19, 1929-Sept. 19, 2008

Parma

Chester Takeshi Takatori was born in Parma, Idaho on Dec. 19, 1929, and passed away on Sept. 19, 2008. Chester was the youngest son of five children born to Kazue and Fred K. Takatori and grew up on the family farm near the Boise River west of Parma, Idaho.

After graduating from Parma High School, he attended the University of Idaho, graduating with a B.S. in horticulture. He was a member of the ROTC program and was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Army upon his college graduation. While on active duty in the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean conflict and was stationed in South Korea and the United States, eventually obtaining the rank of captain. After leaving the Army, Chester returned to the Parma where he farmed until his retirement and lived the remainder of his life.

Chester enjoyed a variety of activities including bowling, cribbage, hunting and fishing. An avid fisherman, some of his fondest memories were fishing for steelhead in Hell’s Canyon with his family and friends.

He was a member of the Jaycees, Masons, Scottish Rites and the Shriners. His colorful, easygoing attitude and disposition will be missed by his friends and family.

He is survived by his dear friend Martha Buttram; sister Kimi and husband, Aki Honda, of El Cerrito, Calif.; brother Frank and wife, Ida, Takatori, of Riverside, Calif.; sister-in-law Yoko Takatori of Parma, Idaho; nine nephews, three nieces and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Takatori, and sister, Mary Yamamoto.

Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at the Kilpatrick Memorial Community Church in Parma, Idaho under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel. A burial service will follow at the Parma Cemetery.
