Doris Hazel (Grace) Teel

Dec. 9, 1929-Sept. 19, 2008

 Doris Hazel (Grace) Teel, age 82, of Payette, died at home Sept. 19, 2008, after a long illness. A viewing will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Fruitland. A Rosary service will be at 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Fruitland. A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Fruitland. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Payette. Funeral services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Condolences may be made to the family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com.

Doris was born Dec. 9, 1925, in Payette, Idaho, to Charles Christopher Grace and Anna Maude (May) Grace. Doris grew up on the Oregon Slope, graduated from Ontario High School and The Eastern Oregon Teacher’s College in La Grande, Ore., where she taught third grade.

Doris married Harold Teel Aug. 17, 1947, in Ontario, Ore. After living in La Grande and Klamath Falls, Ore., Harold and Doris returned to Payette. For many years, Doris taught pre-school at the Holy Family Catholic Church and was an active member of the parish. Doris and Harold also owned Payette’s local hardware store for 40 years.

Doris is survived by her husband Harold; her brother, Bill Grace and sister-in-law, Shirley Grace, of the Oregon Slope; two children, Francie McEwen (Randy) of Longview, Wash., and Ed Teel (Mary) of Walla Walla, Wash.; four grandchildren, Katie McEwen of Princeton, N.J., Sara Teel of Spokane, Wash., Emily McEwen of Riverside, Calif., and Amy (Teel) Schluneger (Jeremy) of Colfax, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be sent to Heart and Home Hospice and Palliative Care LLC, care of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, ID 83661.
