Fruitland netters sweep Payette, remain perfect

Fruitland—Entering action after a 25-23, 25-10, 25-11 sweep over Weiser, Kylee Nawahine and the undefeated Fruitland volleyball team kept the momentum going with another three-game sweep over Payette in Snake River Valley Conference action Thursday in Fruitland.
The Grizzlies kicked off the match with a 25-18 win in the opener and garnered a 2-0 lead with a 25-19 win in the second game.
Payette had no answers and went off meekly into the night after a 25-13 loss in the decisive third game.
Nawahine dropped 15 kills, three aces and three blocks, and teammate Sarah McGinley dished up 18 assists to lead Fruitland. Grizzly standouts Whitney Mahler added 10 kills, and Chelsea McGinley tallied eight digs.
“Their attitude was good. They stayed focused throughout,” Fruitland coach Lisa O’Neil said. “Our performance was good. They played focused, fighting for every point, and that’s really important at this point in the season.”
Fruitland (4-0 overall, 2-0 league) hosts Homedale at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Payette head coach Suzie Burley did not call in statistics or make comments to the Argus Observer as of press time.
