La Grande teenager
indicted on murder charge
LA GRANDE (AP) — An 18-year-old man released early from prison has been indicted in the Sept. 7 shooting death of Jed Henderson outside the Cinco De Mayo restaurant in La Grande.
Union County District Attorney Tim Thompson said Levar Howard will be tried on a charge of murder and two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Howard was sentenced last year to 18 months in prison for assault, but was paroled early.
Investigators have not released a possible motive in the shooting. The 47-year-old Henderson was a single parent raising two children.
Sizemore wins legal battle
SALEM (AP) — Anti-tax activist Bill Sizemore has won a legal battle over his Oregon Voters’ Pamphlet statement to support two of his statewide ballot measures.
Marion County Circuit Judge Thomas Hart ruled Thursday the statement must be included in the pamphlet for the November general election. Sizemore said he submitted information about the multimillion-dollar lawsuit he lost in 2002 after the Oregon Education Association went to court to accuse him and his political action group, Oregon Taxpayers United, of fraud and forgery.
Ore. wildfire enters Crater Lake park
PORTLAND (AP) — A wildfire that started in August has made its way into Crater Lake National Park.
The fire has crossed the southern boundary of the park, the U.S. Forest Service said Thursday.

Tibetan monks share culture at Idaho college
CALDWELL (AP) — A group of Tibetan monks is sharing art, song and dance in southwest Idaho this week as part of a nationwide cultural tour.
Their ‘‘Mystical Arts of Tibet Tour’’ is focusing its Idaho visit at the Caldwell-based College of Idaho. The monks are from the Drepung Loseling Monastery in southern India. So far, the group has visited 20 states since February, with plans to visit 20 other states.
