L. June Chapman
June 5, 1932 - Sept. 10, 2008
Caldwell
L. June Chapman passed away Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, from natural causes at home. Memorial services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
June was born, June 5, 1932, in Jerico Springs, Miss., to Riley B. Bowman and Lora T. Eisenhower. She was the fifth of six children. Her family moved to Parkdale, Ore., during the depression in 1933. She spent her younger years there. After World War II, they moved to Fruitland, Idaho, where she finished her education. She met her future husband while staying with her sisters in The Dalles, Ore. Harold was a stock car driver, and she was the trophy girl.
June married Harold Chapman a few months later on Sept. 4, 1953, at White Salmon, Wash. They traveled the seven western states as Harold worked for a civil service part of the government. Upon Harold’s retirement, they moved to Idaho and bought a small grocery store in Nampa. After a few years, they sold the store and moved to Caldwell. At that time, June worked for Carnation Potatoes for 15 years. After she retired, they bought a motor home, so they could visit their large family and many friends. June was always one to help her elderly neighbors when no one else was around.
June is preceded in death by her husband, Harold, of 54 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Pam Swarm, Wilder, and Sue Reimann, Middleton, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
