Our opinion: A good chance to comment

The City of Ontario will offer area residents and merchants a tremendous opportunity to give feedback on the downtown revitalization plan at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Four Rivers Cultural Center.
The meeting is designed to prompt an open discussion between city leaders, merchants and residents regarding the Ontario downtown revitalization proposal.
The ambitious plan has drawn criticism from some quarters of the business community and praise from others. Many others are on the fence.
All that is just fine. Opposition and support and uncertainty regarding a political issue are all part of democracy.
However, Tuesday’s session gives everyone — those who support the proposal, those who do not and those who are unsure — the perfect opportunity to ask questions, deliver comments and gather information.
This newspaper is on record at two separate occasions in support of the revitalization blueprint. We believe any short-term drawback is outweighed by the obvious benefit in the future.
Yet we are just one voice in the democratic process. Tuesday night’s session offers everyone the chance to get involved in the democratic process.
Don’t miss out. Get involved.

They were awarded a grant to improve sidewalks, plant trees, etc... The town was a great place. Check it out. Send some Emails and ask the civic leaders what they did and how they did it. "
