Idaho posts 42-27 win over Idaho St.

MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) — Idaho quarterback Nathan Enderle connected with Maurice Shaw for a 77-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the game and the Vandals went on to post a 42-27 victory over Idaho State to end an 11-game losing streak on Saturday.

It was Idaho’s first win since Sept. 8, 2007, when the Vandals beat Cal Poly of San Luis Obispo 20-13. Idaho had a 1-11 record last season.

Idaho evened its 2008 mark at 1-1, while Idaho State dropped to 0-2.

Enderle completed 8-of-18 passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns, with no interceptions. He only attempted one pass in the second half.

Idaho running back Deonte Jackson had 100 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown, averaging 8.3 yards a carry. He sat out the second half with a sore back.

Shaw caught three passes for 99 yards.

Idaho State quarterback Russel Hill completed 36 of 65 passes for 308 yards,  times. Bengals receiver Eddie Thompson set a school record with 17 catches, breaking the old mark of 15, set by Ed Bell against Montana in 1969.

SEATTLE (AP) — Jake Locker was crestfallen. The sophomore quarterback did everything he could to give Washington a chance for an upset of No. 15 BYU and wound up apologizing for the Huskies’ loss.

Locker was penalized for celebrating what could have been a game-tying touchdown run with 2 seconds left and BYU’s Jan Jorgensen blocked the 35-yard extra-point attempt to help the Cougars hold to a 28-27 victory Saturday.
