Umatilla—The Ontario girls soccer team improved its record to 1-1 with a road win at Umatilla, defeating the Vikings 6-1.
Scoring goals for the Tigers were Kim Boyd (2), Hailee Turner (2), Shawna McAvoy and Crystal Lopez each with one goal.
Boyd broke the ice in the first minute of play with the Tigers first goal, then just before the whistle blew to end the first half, Boyd assisted McAvoy, giving Ontario a 2-0 lead at intermission.
In the second half of play, Boyd was at it again, scoring off an assist from Gracia Erlebach.
Turner then took her turn at the Umatilla goalie, scoring the next two Tiger goals. The first came on an assist from Boyd and the second was assisted by Rachel Corn.
Ontario goalkeeper, Meghan Schram had only seven shots fired at her in the win.
“I am feeling comfortable,” Schram said. “The defense is working hard and making it easy on me.”
The Tigers peppered the Umatilla goalie with 21 shots in the win.
Ontario will be in action again at 4 p.m. Thursday at Vallivue.
