Vale girls win 22nd annual New Plymouth Invitational
Nyssa takes boys title

New Plymouth—Weiser’s freshman Marquita Palmer won the girls race in 20:41 at the 22nd Annual New Plymouth Invitational.

The Vale girls placed four runners in the top 10, and scored 45 points for the overall win.

New Plymouth’s girls team was led by junior Stephanie Shaver, who placed 10th overall, and the Lady Pilgrims took second place, scoring 73 team points.

Taking third on the girls’ side was Ontario with 96.5 points. The Tigers top finisher was Melody Haidle, running the race in 22:15,which was good enough for fourth place.

Rounding out the girls order of finish were Weiser (103.5), Parma (106) and Idaho City (212).

In the boys race, Weiser’s junior runner Ryan Jaggi took top honors finishing the race in 17:07.

 As a team, Weiser finished in second overall with 52 points, and Nyssa won the event scoring 39 points.

Nyssa was led by junior Brian Nelson. Nyssa’s runners all finished in the top 13.

Placing third was Liberty Charter with 93 team points and

New Plymouth was lead by junior Connor White, who finished 11th overall. The Pilgrim boys finished in fourth place with 99 points. Other Pilgrim runners placing in the top 20 were Crispin Valdez (16th place) and Coben Hoch (18th place).

Parma (130), Vale (131) and Ontario (172) rounded out the finishing order.

Ontario’s Matt Rankin placed third in the race with a time of 17:25.

Parma’s top finisher was Layne Johnson placing 12th with a time of 19:16. Vale’s best time came from Travis DeLong, who came in 15th place with a time of 19:35.

Vale hosted the Jack Rabbit Run on Saturday, but results were not available at press time.
