Ontario—Kim Boyd and Crystal Lopez scored goals, and Meghan Schram notched 11 saves in Ontario’s 3-2 loss to Vallivue Thursday at Alameda School in Ontario.
The Tigers were down 1-0 at the half and were down 2-0 before Boyd put her squad on the board with an unassisted goal.
Lopez evened the score at two on a direct kick from 18-yards out. On the play, Lopez lofted her shot high in the air, and the ball curved right over the outstretched arms of the goalkeeper into the corner of the net for the goal.
With less than five minutes left in the match, Vallivue netted the game-winner, besting the pesky Ontario squad.
“Vallivue is a really good team,” Ontario coach Stacey Captein said. “They have good ball skills and ball-handling ability. That is the best skill team we will face this year.”
Vallivue put up 14 on shots goal, and the Tigers peppered the Falcon goalkeeper to the tune of 10 shots on goal.
“Meghan Schram had her share of saves for us. She was awesome out there making several sliding saves,” Captein said. “She went to a goalkeeper camp earlier this year, and you can tell. She has worked really hard to do the job for us.”
Ontario (0-1 overall) travels to Umatilla to kick off Greater Oregon League action at 1 p.m. Saturday.
