Marjorie Lorraine Fritz
Feb. 14, 1921 - Aug. 30, 2008

ONTARIO

Marjorie Lorraine Fritz, surrounded by loved ones, passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008. Marjorie Lorraine Bevan was born at home, in Boise, Idaho, on Feb. 14, 1921, to Albert and Bertha Lovejoy. She was born premature. Her father’s wedding ring would slip over her wrist, and she spent the first months of her life cuddled in a shoe box.

A great athlete and softball player, as a senior in high school she played in the National Softball Championships.

She graduated from Marsing High School in 1942 and was then recruited by Boeing during the war to attend metal fabrication school in Weiser, Idaho. She traveled by train to Seattle and began work assembling war planes in 1943.

After the war, she returned to Idaho where she met Maurice Fritz. They were married Aug. 28, 1945, in Cheyenne, Wyo. They lived in Denver for a short time, then settled in Boise to raise their children, Maurice Dennis, Carol Ann and Kathy Jean.

Marjorie loved to garden and had an exceptional green thumb, especially for roses. She would can and preserve her garden. She loved to cook and entertain family, and it was not possible to leave her home hungry. She and Maurice enjoyed fishing and camping, spending many happy years chasing the best fishing spots. She was known for her crappie fish fries and stories of “the ones that got away.”

She was an exceptional seamstress, lovingly hand-building quilts and crocheting afghans for her children, grandchildren and greats. Marjorie worked for the U.S. Post Office for over 20 years and was very proud of the job she performed.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, four brothers and one grandson. She is survived by two sisters, one brother, eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and her three children, Maurice D. and Darlene Fritz, Dallas, Ore., Carol and Andrew Arstein Baker City, Ore., and Kathy and Larry Pennington, Ontario, Ore. A burial service will commence at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at Parkview Cemetery, New Plymouth, followed by a celebration of Marjorie’s life at Larry and Kathy Pennington’s home, (541) 889-8287.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Ste. 250, Dallas, TX 75244; or Shriners Childrens Hospital, 3101 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97201.

Condolences may be made at www.lienkaemper-thomason.com.

The family would like to thank the staff from Wellsprings Assisted Living, Heart ‘n Home Hospice and give a special thank you to Paul Gering, M.D., and Jo Buhr Cote, F.N.P., for their loving care.
