Apolionia G. Deleon

Apolionia G. Deleon, 28, Ontario, died Sunday, Aug., 24, 2008. A viewing will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel, 2543 S.W. Fourth Ave., Ontario. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at the funeral chapel.

Parkie J. McMakin

Parkie J. McMakin, 69, Fruitland, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at his home. Funeral services and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.

Sanami J. Nakano

Sanami J. Nakano, 78, Ontario, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at a local care center. Memorial services will be held at noon Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at the Idaho-Oregon Buddhist Temple, Ontario. Burial of cremated remains will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Ontario. Services are under the direction of Lienkaemper Chapel, Ontario.

Virginia ‘Sue’ Oleson

June 2, 1920 - Aug. 25, 2008

Virginia (Sue) Oleson, 88, of Vale, Ore., passed away Monday, Aug. 25, 2008. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at Rosedale Memorial Gardens, Payette, Idaho.

Sue was born June 2, 1920, in Burlington, Iowa, to Swedish immigrants Gustav and Esther Enburg. After graduating from nurse’s training and becoming a R.N., she was a nurse at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Jersey City, N.J. She met and married Walt (Red) Oleson, Oct. 18, 1943, in Jersey City. Red was sent to Germany, and Sue moved back to Burlington.

In 1952, the family moved to Nampa, Idaho, and to Fruitland, Idaho, in 1955.

Sue is survived by her 10 children, Roberta (Rudolf) Trenkel, Vale, Ore., Corinne (Jay) Hecker, ShowLow, Ariz., Sandra Oleson, San Diego, Calif., Bill (Lona) Oleson, Crouch, Idaho, Marta (Herb) Points, Payette, Idaho, Craig Oleson, Payette, Idaho, Janeen (David) Braun, Sandpoint, Idaho, Beth (Skip) Brewer, Vale, Ore., Jim (Val) Oleson, Nampa, Idaho, and Richard (Sandy) Oleson, Ontario, Ore.; 15 grandchildren; and  22 great-grandchildren.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters and her husband, Red, Sept. 13, 1987.

Memorials can be sent to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 842 Alameda Drive, Ontario, OR 97914; Vale Senior Center, 182 Cottage St. S. Vale, OR 97918; or Payette Senior Citizen Center, 137 N. Main, Payette, ID 83661.
