Council ” The game between Council and Salmon River Friday could very well be one of the finest eight-man football games that will be played in 2008.
It is a classic example of two powerhouses with reputation. Both schools have recent state titles under its belt. Council last won it all in 2006, while Salmon River is the defending state champion.
The only difference in the two schools is Salmon River hales from the 1A-D2, while Council competes at the 1A-D1 level, other than that it will be an all out war.
“It is a tough way to start the season,” Council head coach Dan Shumway said. “It will be a physical game.”
Shumway said the Lumberjacks will be going into the game kind of blind, because Salmon River has a new coach, an assistant from last season, .
“I do not know if the new coach will continue to run the same offense and defense, so we will just have to be ready for anything,” Shumway said.
