BOISE (AP) — Officials from AAA Idaho say state highways will be a little less crowded over the holiday weekend.
The latest estimates released by the trade group predict that 151,000 Idaho residents will be drivers or passengers in motor vehicles traveling 50 miles or more during the Labor Day weekend.
That’s a decline of about 4,500, or 3 percent, from the same weekend last year.
That projection mirrors national expectations. Officials say travel across the country will drop nearly 1 percent from a year ago.
Gas prices are the biggest factor for the decline. AAA Idaho says last Friday’s average pump price came in at $3.97 per gallon, giving Idaho the nation’s third most expensive petrol, trailing only Utah and California.
