Ontario — Ontario police arrested two more men Saturday believed to be connected to a gang-related shooting Saturday morning at the Fair View Apartments in Ontario that left one man dead.
Oscar Garcia III, 23, Nyssa, was arrested at a residence in the 500 block of Northwest Eighth Street at 6:27 p.m. Saturday.
“He was hiding under a bed at that location,” Ontario Police Chief Mike Kee said. Garcia was charged with murder.
Ontario police officers also arrested Xavier Armando Jimenez, 20, Ontario, for an outstanding felony in the 900 block of Northwest Fourth Avenue at 7:11 p.m. Saturday. Kee said Jimenez is believed to be connected to the shooting, but did not explain further.
Garcia is the second man to be charged with murder in the death of Rudy Mata, 25, Ontario, who was shot at the apartment complex situated at 555 N.W. Ninth St. in Ontario, Saturday. Mata later died at Holy Rosary Medical of gunshots wounds to the chest. Kee said Mata’s body will be transported today to the Oregon state medical examiner in order to better determine his cause of death.
Earlier Saturday, police arrested Gonzalo Mata, 26, Ontario, and Amando Torres Jr., 25, also of Ontario, in connection with the shooting.
Torres was arrested on one count of murder and one count of attempted murder. Gonzalo Mata is charged with attempted murder.
Payette County Prosecuting Attorney Brian Lee said Gonzalo Mata was also present in a separate altercation in 2006 at the Club 7 bar in Fruitland, which left Gabriel Flores, 26, dead.
“He was identified by a witness as being present during the fight,” Lee said.
Hector Brito Almaraz was convicted of Flores’ murder and is slated to be sentenced at 9 a.m. Sept. 26.
