Glenn E. Bock

April 12, 1949 - Aug. 18, 2008

Boise

Glenn E. Bock, 59, of Boise, Idaho, passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, of cancer. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Eagle. There will be a brief service at the cemetery.

Glenn was born April 12, 1949, in Sidney, Mont., to Cy and Dorothy Bock. He was raised in Nyssa, Ore., and graduated from Nyssa High School in 1967. Glenn served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam from December 1969 to November 1971. He was point man for his squad until his unit commander needed someone with typing skills to work in the office. Glenn raised his hand high, happy to get off the front line.

After his military service, he attended Boise State briefly until finding his niche as a security guard at BSU in 1973. He was later promoted to supervisor of campus security. Glenn was one of the biggest fans of BSU Broncos football. When he wasn’t cheering for the Broncos, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and entertaining his nieces (who called him “Uncle Mustache”) and nephew. He loved spending time with his family and with the family of his best friend of 50 years, John Church, of Fruitland. He enjoyed telling funny stories with a twinkle in his eye and a mischievous grin that preceded a hearty laugh from everyone.

Glenn is survived by his mother, Dorothy Bock, of Nyssa; his three sisters, Nancy Frain, of North Bend, Ore., Barbara Chase and Pamela Rogge, of Eugene, Ore.; nephew, Sean, of Eugene; nieces, Rachelle, of San Antonio, and Kara, of Virginia Beach. He also had two grandnephews in Texas. He was preceded in death by his father Cy Bock.

Micah James Bohmker

Nov. 24, 1978 - Aug. 13, 2008

Canyon City, Ore.

Micah James Bohmker, 29, of Canyon City, Ore., lost his courageous battle with sarcoma cancer on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008. He had a passion for people, life and preaching the good news of Jehovah’s Kingdom (1 Timothy 1:12). His untimely death is mourned by all his family and many friends, and he will be dearly missed by all.

Micah was born Nov. 24, 1978, in Corvallis, Ore., the second child to John and Marilyn Bohmker. He was a kind and fun-loving brother to his sister, Rachel. He moved to Redmond, Ore., with his family in 1994 and graduated from Redmond High School in 1997. Soon after graduation he took up the schedule of a full-time minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a faith that unites his family. In 1998, Micah volunteered to join the World Wide Headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses and spent two and a half years in the Watchtower printing facility at Wallkill, N.Y.

After returning to Redmond, he continued his public ministry activity. To support himself, he worked for BendBroadband in door-to-door sales and held other various part-time jobs. In 2003, he graduated from the Watchtower Ministerial Training School and relocated to John Day, Ore., to work with the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. On Oct. 2, 2004, he married Esmeralda Flores, of Nyssa. They continued their happy and full life together in the ministry in the John Day/Canyon City area until he was diagnosed with cancer.

Micah is survived by his wife, Esmeralda Bohmker; his parents, John and Marilyn Bohmker, of Redmond; his sister, Rachel, and brother-in-law, Jesse Stoner, currently residing in Luanda, Angola, Africa; his paternal aunt, Evelyn Oleman, of Corvallis; his maternal aunt, Sharon Witham, of Lakeport, Calif.; paternal uncle, Tom Bohmker, of Independence, Ore.; his grandparents, James and Sarah Bohmker, of Corvallis; his great-aunts, Marilyn Dupre, of Belmont, Calif., and Ruth Darragh of Des Moines; and six cousins, Wendy Thorn, Cheryl Albaugh, Matthew Oleman, Joshua Bohmker, Timothy Bohmker and Michael Anderson.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, in the Redmond High School auditorium, Redmond.

Gay Sheppick Bybee

July 23, 1940 - Aug. 20, 2008

prosser, wash.

Gay Sheppick Bybee was born July 23, 1940, in Salt Lake City to Floyd G. Sheppick and Minola Moon. She grew up on a mink ranch in South Jordan, Utah, with her two older sisters, Elaine and Arlene. Gay attended West Jordan High School and graduated in 1958.

While visiting cousins in Nyssa, Ore., the summer before her senior year, Gay met her future husband, Clyde W. Bybee, at a baseball game. Clyde and Gay were married in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 24, 1959. Clyde and Gay made their home outside of Nyssa on Jefferson Drive for almost 20 years. While there, they welcomed three sons into their family: Vance, Scott and Neal. Following in the footsteps of many past generations of Bybees, Clyde, Gay and their boys dedicated their lives in Nyssa to farming.

In 1978, Clyde and Gay moved their family to a farm outside of Prosser, Wash., to begin a new adventure on the Horse Heaven Hills. For the past 30 years, Gay continued in her role as the quintessential farm wife — working as the farm’s bookkeeper, parts runner, substitute truck driver and office manager. Gay was renowned for her culinary skills and brought lots of love into her home and the homes of neighbors and friends through her cooking. Gay loved flowers and fought with the Horse Heaven wind every summer to keep a flower garden to brighten her yard. Despite her fast-paced schedule, Gay always made time to spend with her grandchildren and could be coaxed into the pool, on the back of a four-wheeler or up onto the trampoline for the kind of great fun that only comes from being with Grandma. And Grandma’s treat drawer was always well stocked. She was truly the heart of her family.

Gay was a member of the Prosser LDS church for 30 years, where she diligently shared her talents for teaching, music and leadership with her friends there.

Gay was diagnosed with lung cancer on Aug. 4, 2008. She passed away at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Wash., just 16 days later on Aug. 20, 2008.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at the Prosser LDS church, 1835 Highland Drive, Prosser, Wash.

The Bybee Family kindly asks that your thoughtfulness for Gay be directed to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Checks may be mailed to Seattle CCA, P.O. Box 19023, Seattle, WA 98109-1023. Credit Card donations may be made by contacting Diana Benson at (206) 667-6121 or dkbenson@fhcrc.org.

The family invites you to sign their online guestbook at www.muellersfuneralhomes.com.
