Ila Judd Hardy
May 7, 1920 - Aug. 18, 2008

Nyssa

Ila Judd Hardy, age 88, of Nyssa, formerly of Fruitland, passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at a Payette care center. Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Fruitland. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth. Bishop Mike Glenn will conduct. Condolences may be made to the family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com.

Ila was born May 7, 1920, in Declo, Idaho. She was raised and went to school in the Declo-Rupert area, where she met and married William Hyrum Hardy on Aug. 18, 1938, in Dillon, Mont. They were married for 25 years before he passed away in Fruitland.

Mom worked as a bookkeeper most of her life and loved working with figures. She also worked as the lunchroom supervisor in the Fruitland school system for many years. Mom went back to college in her 60s at Treasure Valley Community College, taking computer classes. She loved learning new things and accepting new challenges.

Mom had a lot of tragedy in her lifetime, but she never let them get her down. Her favorite song was “Count Your Many Blessings,” and she did that a lot. She loved to crochet, loved her family and loved her dogs. She loved to travel and went on many outings with her kids and grandkids through the years. She was a good sport and was fun to spend time with.

Ila was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fruitland and Nyssa. She loved going to church and always tried to do what was right.

She is survived by four children, Carol Detweiler, Nyssa, Lillian Hardy, Fruitland, Edwin Hardy, Phoenix, and Janet Watson, New Plymouth; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Ila was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, her husband and four children.

We would like to extend a special thanks to Heart ‘n Home Hospice for their loving care of our mom and to the employees at SunBridge Care Center in Payette.
