Channa Cherry, daughter of David Cook, of Vale, and Eunice Cook, of Corning, Calif., recently passed Thursday, July 10, 2008, at her daughter’s home in Reno, Nev.
Channa spent many years in a care center but was recently reunited with her daughter and spent her last months in Reno. Her younger years were spent in Macdoel, Calif., with summers at her cousins’, the Hicks, now of Vale, and a little time in Washington with her biological father, Marvin Asher.
Channa was raised a Christian country girl on Dad’s farm and remained so all her life. She married Roger Cherry and had one daughter, then went south to Red Bluff for a while before moving to Tennessee. Fifteen years there allowed for some interesting entertainment opportunities, always a music fan, and trips to Florida, sharks and all. Even with the years in a care center she met a lot of people from all over the U.S. and will be sorely missed by her loved ones.
She is survived by her father, Dave; daughter, Chariety Ireland, of Reno; grandchildren, Michael and Corbin Taylor, and Shannonndoah Parr; her brothers, Richard Cook, David Cook, Dale Riply; and sister, Kimberly Mattke.
She follows her brother, Michael Riply, and mother, Eunice Cook.
Due to Channa’s love of everything Irish, a time of remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at Mackeys, 111 S.W. First St., Ontario. Mackeys will receive flowers. All are welcome.
