Maxine R. DeHaven
April 28, 1930 - Aug. 15, 2008

Parma

Maxine R. DeHaven, 78, of Parma, passed away Friday, Aug. 15, 2008. Maxine went home to be with her heavenly father after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fruitland. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel in Payette and one hour prior to the services at the church.

She was born in La Grande, Ore., on April 28, 1930, to Walter and Effie Knauff. She was welcomed home by her brother, John Knauff, two sisters, Rhoda Snyder and Hazel Scott, and her parents.

Her family moved to Emmett where she grew up and attended school. She went to work for Heinz Frozen Foods for 40 years until she retired in 1996. She met a lot of wonderful friends during her employment there.

She was a homemaker and farmer. She loved to irrigate and take care of her cows. She was a hard worker and loved the farm life. Her hobbies included playing cards, crocheting, dancing, cooking and taking Sunday drives.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jan Farley and SanDee Moss, both of Fruitland; two grandchildren, Christy (Eric), of Parma, Brad (Nikki) Caviness, of Portland, Ore.; and four great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Braxton York, of Parma, and CJ and Morgan Caviness, of Portland. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by older siblings, John, Rhoda, Hazel; a younger brother, Leonard; and her parents; along with two great-nieces and one great-nephew.

A special thanks to niece Judy Fuller, of Caldwell, for giving your time and love over the last two months taking care of your Aunt Mac. Also special friend Jo Allmaras for coming over at a moment’s notice to sit with her. She enjoyed your company. The family would like to thank Pathway Hospice and the Misti Center in Fruitland and all the employees there. We will miss you Mom, Grandma, Nana and Aunt Mac. The online guestbook may be signed and private condolences sent to the family at www.Haren-Wood.com.

God saw that she was getting tired and a cure was not meant to be

So He put His arms around her and whispered “Come with me”

With tearful eyes we watched her suffer and watched her fade away

Although we loved her dearly we could not make her stay

A golden heart stopped beating and a warm loving heart to rest

God broke our hearts to prove to us that He only takes the best.
