Idaho Ed Board agrees to 10th-grade testing
BOISE (AP) — The state Board of Education has agreed to spend about $20,000 so Idaho public schools can test 10th-graders this fall.
Students must pass the Idaho Standards Achievement Test in the spring of their 10th- grade year to graduate high school.
But the board has scaled back on statewide testing since 2007 to save money, and some educators now worry high school sophomores are unprepared to pass the ISAT when it is most crucial.

Reported rape turns out to be
consensual
OREGON CITY (AP) — A man and a woman have been jailed after their sexual encounter led someone to think a rape was in progress.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office says a homeless woman seeking a place to pitch a tent contacted the authorities Wednesday after witnessing a man sexually assaulting a bound and naked woman.
The 47-year-old Milwaukie man and 46-year-old Portland woman fled when deputies arrived, but were tracked down by a police dog.
The pair explained that they met on Craigslist while seeking this type of sexual encounter. The man added that he fled because of his marital status.
Plane crash victims still hospitalized
PORTLAND (AP) — The mother and two children injured when a plane crashed into their rented beach house on the Oregon coast are expected to survive, according to a statement released Wednesday on behalf of their relatives.
In their first public statement since the crash that killed five on Monday, the Reimann family said Ruth Johnson-Reimann, 47, and her 11-year-old daughter, Sarah, are in critical condition at the Oregon Burn Center at Portland’s Legacy Emanuel Hospital. Reimann’s son, 13-year-old Christopher, is listed in serious condition.
The statement e-mailed by Legacy Health System said their conditions are stable, all are expected to survive, and that Matt Reimann and his family are ‘‘grateful and overwhelmed’’ at the outpouring of support they have received.
