When she was a young girl, her family moved to Nampa, where she attended school through the 10th grade. She quit high school to attend the Superior Beauty School. She washed the towels, uniforms and swept the floors to pay for her training. After graduating from beauty school, she worked at Varney’s Beauty Shop in Nampa.

They moved to Vale in 1946 to farm with Clifton’s parents. She operated a beauty shop out of her home for a time, until taking care of her children and helping on the farm became her full-time occupation.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had several church callings.
She is survived by her four children, sons, Gary (Ann) McClellan, of Vale, and Jake (Dru) McClellan, of Alabama, daughters, Sandy (Steve) Bates, of Vale, and Vicki Cordova, of Vale; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton, her parents, one brother and two sisters and a grandson.
