Marie Emma Bailey, 89, Ontario, joined her Lord in peace at home on Monday, July 28, 2008. She was born Sept. 26, 1918, to Fred H. and Emma Schwanke Oetjen in Corvallis, Ore. She attended grade school and high school in Corvallis. Marie graduated from Oregon State College in June 1941 in business science.
On Oct. 24, 1941, Marie married Leeds Bailey. They moved to Ontario, where Leeds was employed by the Oregon State Extension Service.
Marie was a very efficient secretary, working many years for the Blackaby Insurance Agency in the Ontario office. Marie also served as secretary for the Southern Idaho Mushroom Society for many years. She loved hunting and cooking mushrooms.
Marie was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Marie was a loving and loyal wife, devoted to her husband and her many friends.
Marie is survived by her husband, Leeds; and a nephew, Howard Schwanke, of Corvallis.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at the Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Lienkaemper Chapel, Ontario.
