BOISE—Darrin Johnson took a no hitter into the seventh inning before allowing the games only hit, as he earned the win during the Treasure Valley Stars ‘AA’ victory over the Eagle Vipers Wednesday in Boise.

Johnson finished his outing with 61⁄3 innings pitched, while allowing eight walks and striking out seven.

“He gave us a solid outing and was ready to play,” Stars coach Aaron Sutton said about Johnson’s performance. “He really got things going.”

Following Johnson’s trip on the mound, Tyson Flannery finished off the game with three strike outs of his own to preserve the win.

Flannery also drove in three runs in the victory.

The Stars started off slowly, grabbing a three run lead after three innings, before knocking across four runs in the fifth for a 7-0 lead.

“Their starting pitcher was good. He mixed his speeds well. I like the way we responded,” Sutton said. “We got hits with runners in scoring position.”

Treasure Valley plated another three runs in the sixth and one in the eighth to round out their scoring.

Eagle scored three times in the seventh and once in the ninth.

Jake Davidson picked up a double and a pair of RBIs for the Stars.

Treasure Valley advances to play the No. 1 seed Boise Gems today at 7 p.m. at Fort Boise baseball complex.

In the single A tournament, the Treasure Valley ‘A’ Stars were ready to hit the diamond, but their opponent, the Boise Seminoles did not show up for the game.

According to Vern Davis, an American Leagion official, the team that lost the game was going to have to play again later that afternoon.

“I guess they decided to not play the Stars and get ready for the afternoon game,” Davis said.

With the win the Stars advance to play the Mountain View Toros which will take place at 1 p.m. today at Rodeo Park in Nampa.
