Last modified: Wednesday, July 16, 2008 10:57 AM PDT Glenn LaMarr Kofoed July 9, 1940 - July 10, 2008 Fruitland Glenn LaMarr Kofoed departed this life Thursday, July 10, 2008, in Middleton, Idaho, the morning after his 68th birthday. He was born in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, on July 9, 1940, and was the second of nine children, the oldest son of Verland Glenn and Verla Woodbury Kofoed. He is survived by his wife, Daleen Walker Kofoed; nine children, Karvel, LaVar, Doreen, Reed, Lane, Spencer, Kelli, Kerri and Traci; their spouses; 43 grandchildren; all eight of his siblings; and his mother, Verla. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kolette; and his father, Glenn. LaMarr was raised in Wilder and New Plymouth before serving a two-year LDS mission to the New England States Mission and graduating from Brigham Young University with a degree in education and a minor in history. He courted his sweetheart, Daleen, at BYU, and in 1964 they were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. LaMarr returned to his studies in 1970, with five children, to obtain a law degree from the University of Idaho. In 1974, the family moved to Fruitland where he opened a law practice and continued that practice for 33 years. In September 2007, he retired after battling a rare but deadly blood cancer for 10 years. He practiced law as a family attorney, school attorney, city attorney and in criminal prosecution and defense. He was elected as a county prosecutor and served as a court appointed public defender. LaMarr spent his life dedicated to his family and to the gospel of Jesus Christ. He cherished his wife, Daleen, and they spent 44 years together being blessed with 10 children, 43 grandchildren and a life full of much joy and wonderful memories. LaMarr is now alive and healthy in the presence of his Maker and will continue through the eternities in his great capacity of love and service. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2008, at the Middleton LDS Stake Center, just off the Middleton freeway exit on old Highway 30. Viewings will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2008, and from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2008, at the same location.
