Mary Margaret Johnstone Adams
May 4, 1917 - July 4, 2008

Mary Margaret Johnstone Adams, 91, of Boise and formerly of Payette, passed away Friday, July 4, 2008, in a Boise care facility. Graveside memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2008, at Riverside Cemetery, Payette. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Mary was born in Jamestown, N. D., on May 4, 1917. Her father and one brother died when she was very young. At age 6, she moved with her mother and brothers to Benicia, Calif. Mary attended the Benicia schools. She married Archie Johnstone on June 8, 1940.

During WWII, Mary worked at Mare Island Shipyard. After the war, Mary and Archie lived several places in California, Oregon and Idaho while Archie drove truck for logging outfits. They settled in Payette in 1954. Mary worked as a legal secretary for 18 years. After Archie passed away in 1973, Mary married Eldon Adams in 1975.

She loved plane rides, taking long car drives, traveling off beat roads and beach combing on the Oregon coast. Mary enjoyed sewing, gardening and reading.

Her first husband, Archie Sr.; two sons, Archie Jr. and Jack; a grandson, BJ; and two stepchildren, Jan and Gene, precede her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Eldon; daughter, Jeanie Loera; son, Jerry Johnstone; grandchildren, Eric and Sandra; four great-grandchildren; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to 2nd Chance Pet Adoption or Pet Haven Humane Society, c/o Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette ID 83661.
