Truman Ford Barlow
Feb. 11, 2008 - July 10, 2008

Vale

Truman Ford Barlow, 88, of Vale, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008, of natural causes.

Truman was born in Bountiful, Utah, on Feb. 11, 1920, to Israel Call Barlow and Myrtle Roundy Ford.

Truman and his family moved to Vale in 1938, traveling in a Whippet car, where the family had began farming in the Vale area. Truman attended schools in Bountiful, Utah, Burley, Idaho, and finished in Vale. He graduated in 1942, at the age of 22, because he had to quit school before his junior year to support his family due to his father’s poor health.

He continued to farm until he retired, while still trying to help, and gave his opinion until his final days.

Growing up, and even as he was older, Truman enjoyed jokes and was considered somewhat mischievous.

He was an animal lover. He always had dogs and cats around. He had a special dog named Buddy who went everywhere with him, even after he was married.

On Oct. 4, 1942, Truman married Eleanor Clement in Homedale, Idaho. Together they had five children.

He enjoyed music. He was able to play the piano and accordion by ear. He enjoyed woodworking, using the lathe to create bowls and candlesticks. He also loved to go fishing and enjoyed his grandchildren and friends.

He was preceded in death by twin brother, Newman; parents; sister, Norma Grigg; and grandson, Michael Morris.

He is survived by his wife; brothers and sisters, Max (June) Barlow, Adrian, Ore., Myrtle (Glenn) Hammer, Colfax, Calif., Emma Lou (Ron) Willden, Salt Lake City, Utah, Dean (Barbara) Barlow, Kent, Wash., Toby (Carmen) Barlow, Mesa, Ariz., Rhea (Leo) Udy, Rockland, Idaho, Sarah (Rodney) Beus, Mesa, Ariz.; children, Ella (Buck) Rose, Lehi, Utah, Neal Barlow, Vale, Ore., Christie (Rex) Morris, Boise, Idaho, Dale (Tracy) Barlow, Vale, Ore., Lori (Scott) Scribner, Vancouver, Wash.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and “the Outlaw.”

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at the Vale LDS Church, with services following at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Vale. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lienkaemper-thomason.com.
