NYSSA — A fire caused heavy damage to a house north of Nyssa late Thursday afternoon, sparking a response from several Malheur County emergency service agencies.
The Nyssa Rural Fire Department was the main responder to the blaze, at 3451 Echo Road, listed by the sheriff’s department as the Ralph Linville residence.
Additional equipment and crews were summoned from Ontario, Vale and Adrian.
“It was a garage that caught fire,” Will Cleaver, Nyssa firefighter, said, and it spread to the rest of the house. “It was pretty much a total loss.”
There were no injuries.
Besides firefighters, the Nyssa Fire Department responded with five pieces of equipment, Jon Stam, Nyssa firefighter, said. Ontario responded with a tanker and an engine. Adrian responded with a tanker, and Vale responded with manpower.
“We went back about 2:30 a.m.,” Stam said. “There was just a little smoke. There were no flames.”
The cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation, Stam said.
