A worthy
program

It is high summer here in the western Treasure Valley, hardly the time to be thinking of the cold weather associated with winter.
But winter — in particular, Christmas — is a key theme for a group of area residents that plans to donate its time repairing donated bikes for distribution to less fortunate children through the Help Them To Hope program.
Ontario resident Don Crownover and a number of other individuals are working together to make this new program a success.
For example, the group recently received 26 surplus found or stolen bikes left unclaimed at the Fruitland Police Department. The bike donation was made possible by assistance from the Fruitland City Council and Fruitland Police Department Chief Rick Skelly.
The Ontario Police Department has also donated several bikes.
The idea for the bike program evolved from a similar one in Klamath Falls, where Crownover was once the fire chief.
No matter how the idea developed, the bottom line is this is a program worthy of community support.
