Ontario - Boise’s Seminoles scored 21 runs and took full advantage of 11 Treasure Valley fielding errors in their 10-2 and 11-0 doubleheader sweep in American Legion baseball action Friday at Elks Memorial Field in Ontario.
In the opener, Boise was up 4-2 in the top of the seventh inning when the error bug hit the sloppy Stars. The Seminoles scored six runs and broke open the slim lead.
Kyle Blackwell’s hit a single, then the Stars’ bats were silenced. Tommy MacFarlane and Jay Sutton chipped in RBI sacrifice flies to account for the only scores.
We couldn’t get anything to fall and couldn’t get anything going against their pitcher,” Treasure Valley coach Aaron Sutton said.
Tyson Flannery suffered the loss, allowing six runs, all unearned.
In the nightcap, Boise jumped all over Treasure Valley starter Guillermo Garcia. The Seminoles scored four runs in the first and toppled the Stars with six in the second to lead 10-0 after an inning and a half.
“The second game we just came out flat. We didn’t come ready to play,” Sutton said. “We gave them eight extra outs and we can’t give a good team extra outs.”
Boise added a final nail in the coffin in one run in the top of the fourth to put the mercy rule into effect.
Treasure Valley notched three hits in the game, with Flannery, Jake Davidson and Darin Johnson going 1-for-2.
