Idaho independents to intervene in closed
primary lawsuit
BOISE (AP) — Two groups representing Idaho’s independent voters say they’ll try to intervene in the Idaho Republican Party’s federal lawsuit over the state’s primary elections.
The Idaho GOP sued Secretary of State Ben Ysursa in April, attempting to force the closure of the primaries to all but Republicans.
On Wednesday, an attorney representing The American Independent Movement of Idaho and the Committee for a Unified Republican Party sent a letter to Idaho Deputy Attorney General Mike Gilmore, informing him that the groups would try to intervene in the lawsuit.
Nampa library board member resigns after anonymous blog post
NAMPA (AP) — A Nampa Library Board member who voted to remove two sex education books from library shelves has resigned after he was identified as an anonymous blogger who wrote his opponents had a ‘‘messed up view of sex.’’
However, Bruce Skaug said his resignation Monday had nothing to do with the post he sent last week to the local blog The Unequivocal Notion, in which he wrote: ‘‘Many of you who gripe about the board’s decision don’t have spouses (of the opposite gender) or children (legitimate) because of your messed up view of sex. So you cannot understand people who wish to protect children from becoming like you.’’

West Nile found up and down Utah
ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — West Nile virus has been detected up and down Utah. Of course, the trick this summer will be to avoid mosquitoes. Salt Lake and Washington counties say they’ve detected the virus in mosquito pools. Kane County last week was the first to report it in a dead crow. In 2007, one Utahn died and another became seriously ill from West Nile.
All told, 68 human cases were reported last year.
