Library offers summer reading program

Fruitland

The Fruitland Community Library will start its summer reading program with a kickoff party from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Fruitland Community Park.

This year’s theme is “Catch the Reading Bug!” The program will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday evenings. For more information, call (208) 452-7123.

Summer lunch offered

Ontario

Harvest House Missions will be serving lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Monday to Aug. 15 at Eastside Kiwanis Park on Southeast Fifth Street and Beck Kiwanis Park on Northwest Ninth Street. Lunches are available to children younger than 18 years old.

Blood drive slated

CALDWELL

An American Red Cross blood drive will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 20 at Kaley Auditorium, West Valley Medical Center, 1717 Arlington, Caldwell.

SWCD meeting set

ONTARIO

The Malheur County SWCD board of directors meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the USDA Ag Service Center, near airport corner, Ontario. The meeting location is accessible to persons with disabilities. A request for an interpreter for the hearing impaired or for other accommodations for persons with disabilities should be made at least 48 hours before the meeting to the SWCD at (541) 889-2588. This meeting is open to the public. An executive session may be held for the purpose of discussing personnel issues if needed. Additionally, a business plan committee meeting will be held at 4 p.m.Tuesday.

Country western dance planned

Ontario

The monthly country western dance sponsored by Boulevard Grange No. 389 will be from 8:30 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the grange hall, 3890 Highway 201, near Cairo Junction.

This is an alcohol-free dance so all ages are welcome at $5 each. Concessions will be for sale. Malheur County Search and Rescue will provide security.
