Leila Mae Adams
July 31, 1914 - May 1, 2008

Weiser - Leila Mae Adams, 93, longtime resident of Weiser, died Thursday, May 1, 2008. Leila was born in Malheur County (Oregon side) to Frank and Ellen LoRee on July 31, 1914. Leila moved with her family to various farm communities, attending those schools and Weiser High, after boarding and working for families nearer to school.

Leila married Jack Kenneth Adams Sept. 23, 1934, with the Rev. Edward Paddock, founder of Intermountain Institute, officiating. The couple has made their home in and near Weiser since that time. They farmed for a number of years. She worked at Moss Rose Ice Plant and retired from Thriftway Drug Store in 1976. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Weiser and the Shamrock Club.

Leila’s greatest joy came from family and friends. She was a gracious and loving person with a gift for hospitality and always welcomed people into her home.

Many have fond memories of the picnics held in her backyard, including several during National Fiddle Festival times. Her hobbies were cake decorating, sewing and gardening, with a special love for her rose garden. She will be truly missed. We love you, Mom.

Leila was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, LaDoris and Leona; brothers, Elmer and Leonard Thomas; and great-grandson, Austin Adams.

She is survived by her sister, Thelma Houck, Klamath Falls; son, Darwin (Darla) Adams, Weiser; daughter, Cheryl (Mike) Reed, Gooding; grandchildren, Ken, Cheri, Jeff, Leiloni and Austin; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the Indianhead Estates staff for her loving care since October 2006, Dr. Bryan Drake and the Weiser Memorial Hospital staff.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Thomason Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery on the Oregon Slope. A viewing will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lienkaemper-thomason.com.
