Vangy Ball, 91, Weiser, passed away peacefully Monday, April 14, 2008, at the Weiser Care Center.
Julia Evangeline Welden was born March 22, 1917, in Altoona, Kan., the fourth child of Jeff W. Welden and Mable Lona Edmondson. She met and married Merl Ball in Council, Idaho, on Sept. 21, 1935. Together they raised four children.
Vangy worked at Mesa Orchard and at Ore-Ida. She also sewed professionally. But her greatest passion was caring for her family.
Visitors, friends and relatives were always welcome in her home, and they knew there was always a place for them at her table.
Vangy is survived by her husband of 73 years, Merl; children, Carol (Stu) Nesbitt, Sequim, Wash., Dallas (Kay) Ball, Bonnie (Jim) Johnston, Weiser, and David (Esther) Ball, Fruitland; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her brothers and sisters and grandson, Mike Lewis.
A good and trusted friend, a faithful companion, a compassionate animal lover, an attentive listener but slow to offer advice, Vangy is loved by all who have known her.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday April 17, 2008, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Weiser, under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home.
