Southwestern Idaho Birders Association field trip

The Southwestern Idaho Birders Association has scheduled an all day field trip to the Birds of Prey NCA on Saturday.
The group will meet at the Nampa Park and Ride off of I84 Exit 36 at 8 a.m.
Or participants can join the group at the Kuna Visitors Center at 8:30 a.m instead. Be sure to bring plenty of drinking water and lunch or snacks as the plan is to picnic at Swan Falls Dam.

Scrapbooking class slated
WEISER
Tharesa Little, consultant of Close to my Heart, is hosting a scrap-booking class at Copper Creek Coffee and Bistro, Weiser.
The Class will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday. The cost is only $15. Participants will get background and texture papers, six coordinating cardstocks, six colonial white cardstock for bases, plus embellishments and the use of all Tharesa’s stamp sets.

Dia del Nino dinner celebration fundraiser scheduled
ONTARIO
There will be a dinner celebration of Dia del Nino (Day of the Child) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. May 1 at Aiken Elementary School. Tacos, rice, beans, salad, drinks and dessert will be served.
The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under.
Tickets will be available at Aiken Elementary, (541) 889-5584, and at the door. Proceeds from the dinner will help fund the Aiken Destination Imagination team’s trip to the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tenn.

Benefit dinner and dance planned

A benefit dinner and dance are planned for Joy Bridgman. The dinner begins at 4:30 p.m. and the dance kicks off at 7 p.m. Saturday at the VFW hall in Huntington.

Red Hat Ladies Arbor Day event

The Four Rivers Red Hat Ladies will meet April 26 to take part in the Arbor Day event in the Hikaru Mizu (shining waters) garden at Four Rivers Cultural Center, Ontario. All chapters of the Red Hat Ladies of the Treasure Valley are invited to see the Japanese Garden (a work in progress).

Child abuse class planned

Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect, a class on mandatory reporting, will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Department of Human Services Building, 186 East Lane, Ontario.

Shoot for a Cure event slated

The Parma Rod and Gun Club presents the first-ever Shoot for a Cure, a breast cancer fundraiser shooting event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 10. The event will be geared toward women ages 16 and older comfortable competing in a range setting while raising awareness for breast cancer, men are also welcome. All women who register will recieve a gift bag and be eligible for top prizes. A $30 tax-deductible entry fee will be donated to the Boise affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Mountain States Tumor Institute.
