OREGON - 4 in Oregon Grannies group arrested at

recruiting station

PORTLAND  (AP) — Four people who left hand prints in red paint at a Portland military recruiting center have been arrested on criminal mischief charges.

They are apparently members of a group that styles itself the ‘‘Seriously P.O.’d Grannies.’’ Members were arrested last year at the station for using finger paint to leave their hand prints, along with a number representing U.S. war dead in Iraq.

Obama takes campaign to conservative Southern Oregon

MEDFORD  (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama took his message of changing the old partisan politics into a conservative corner of Oregon on Saturday.

Hundreds of supporters stood in a line stretching more than 200 yards in the early morning cold to get good seats for the townhall meeting. See story page A5.

State falls short on IT,

BOISE (AP) — Idaho’s legislative watchdog agency says coordination of the state’s information technology and public safety communication systems is missing the mark.

An Office of Performance Evaluations report released this week concludes $428 million in technology expenditures since 2005 haven’t been reported consistently.

Some Idaho emergency units face volunteer shortage

BUHL (AP) — The number of emergency medical technicians has declined in some rural areas of Idaho due to a drop in volunteers, leaving some jurisdictions struggling to handle emergencies, officials say.  The number of EMTs in the state has increased to about 3,000, including volunteers, but the number of volunteer EMTs is down in some rural areas.
