Robert Ivan Rose, 94, of Payette, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2008, at a local care facility in Payette. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Riverside Cemetery, Payette. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.
Robert was born on July 9, 1913, in Soda Springs, Idaho to Walter Nowlind and Minnie Lucinda (Lau) Rose. After graduating from Nampa High School, he worked for Union Pacific as a stenographer. He met Elaine Constance Davis, and they married Oct. 12, 1941, in Payette. He then went to work for his father-in-law on his ranch. In 1952, he bought and operated Payless Gas in Payette until retiring in 1990. During this time, he also had a fruit orchard and an interest in Payette Valley Fruit Company.
Robert was a member of the Payette LDS Church 1st Ward, the Elks B.P.O.E. No. 1690 in Ontario and loved playing cards.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Eugenia Fairbanks, of Payette; a sister, Doris Stock, of Ogden, UT; a granddaughter, Yvonne Teresa Rose, of Payette; a great-granddaughter, Samantha Nichole Chaffin, of Payette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert’s wife, parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
