Malheur Gun Club trap shoot scheduled
Malheur Gun Club will be hosting a trap shoot for meat prizes starting at noon Sunday at the Vale airport. Everyone is welcome.
St. Patrick’s Dinner fundrasier
Patrick’s Pub, Payette, will be hosting its 12th annual St. Patrick’s Day corned beef and cabbage lunch from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the pub, 815 First Ave. S., Payette.
The back room will be hosted as smoke free from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds from the day will go to St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital in Boise. Music will be provided from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. by I Want Candy. For more information about the event, contact Kathy Patrick at (208) 642-9911.

Abstract and figurative
paintings
A group show featuring the explosive multi-media abstract collages on wood surfaces from Hugh Myers, a series of ink and oil geometric abstracts from Chris Handlos, figurative acrylic paintings from Patrick Davis, quaint mixed-media collages on assorted paper surfaces from Edith Hope, and in-house artist Matthew Jordan’s captivating blown-glass forms. Basque whaling “Danger and Daring on a Distant Shore”
Learn about the some of the world’s first shipbuilders and whalers, the Basques. Step aboard the deck of a ship and try your hand at steering, look through the telescope at a distant harpooner battling a whale, or marvel at the mystery of the gold astrolabe. Dan Looney and John Killmaster

Friday Night Drum Jam
Friday evenings are for playing at Drum Central. The store invites drum enthusiasts and novices alike to try out some of new found rhythm skills with other drummers. Reading series
As part of the MFA Reading Series, former Boise State instructor and author Michael FitzGerald will read some of his work from his debut novel, Radiant Days. His other works of fiction include Oysters, published in Northwest Review; Jaws of Life, published by Cutbank Literary Magazine; and Toxoplasmosis, published by the Massachusetts Review. FitzGerald is the author of several essays and reviews, including The Heart of Keith Banner’s America, published in “Other Voices;” a review of Robert Bolano’s Last Evenings on Earth, published by the Boise Weekly; and I Heart Denis Johnson, published by Swink. Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Gondoliers”
The play by Gilbert and Sullivan tells the story of two recently married Venetian gondoliers who are informed by the Grand Inquisitor that one of them has just become the King of “Barataria.”
The country of Barataria needs a king so the two leave their wives to rule until they can find out who is the rightful ruler. Complications arise when it is discovered that the king was actually wed in infancy to the daughter of the Spanish Duke of Plaza Toro.
Therefore whichever gondolier is king is an unintentional bigamist as well. The beautiful daughter just happens to be in love with a young Spaniard servant who just happens to shows up at the very same moment as the two lonely Venetian wives curious to know who will become royalty and who will remain a regular Joe.

‘Kids in the Kitchen’
A group of Junior League Boise volunteers and local nutrition and fitness experts will guide kids and their parents in a lesson on how to choose and prepare healthy snack choices Saturda from 10 a.m.through 2 p.m.
The event is full of hands-on activities and includes recipes and tips on nutrition, fitness and healthy lifestyles. The program now in its third year and was designed to help reverse the trend of childhood obesity and its associated health issues.
