Last modified: Friday, February 15, 2008 11:46 AM PST Bulletin Board Meditation marathon planned ONTARIO The Idaho-Oregon Buddhist Temple in Ontario will host a 26.2 hour meditation marathon March 15 and March 16 as a special event to commemorate the 750th memorial for Shinran Shonin, the founder of Shin Buddhism. The public is invited to participate in the event, which features the theme, “May peace and tranquility prevail throughout the world.” The event was the idea of the Rev. Joshin Dennis Fujimoto, who used to run marathons and converted miles to hours for the meditation marathon. Participants will sign up for 20 minute segments where they will circle the sanctuary while reciting the Nembutsu. There will be five services during the event, as well as an open house and educational workshops. The marathon will begin at 9 a.m. March 15 and conclude at 11:15 a.m. March 16 during the Ohigan Family Service. For more information, call (541) 889-8562. Weiser church to attend Creation Festival 2008 WEISER The Community Church of Weiser is planning on attending Creation Festival 2008 July 23 through July 26. There will be contemporary Christian musicians performing and others leading worship and providing inspiration. The cost is $150 per person, which includes transportation, food, entry tickets to all musical events and hot showers. Card party planned at Ontario church Ontario St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church will be having a card party from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. March 28 at the church in Ontario. Community prayer breakfast scheduled WEISER The Weiser Ministerial Association and Kiwanis will be sponsoring the annual community prayer breakfast at 9 a.m. Feb. 23, at the Vendome Special Event Center, Weiser. The cost is $5 for an opportunity to eat, sing and pray with Christians from churches throughout Weiser. Tickets are available from Pastor Steve at the Community Church of Weiser. Ministry fair slated for Feb. 24 WEISER The Community Church of Weiser will be hosting a ministry fair right after church Feb. 24. The event is intended to answer questions patrons may have about the various ministries of the church. Bethany Presbyterian’s stew feed scheduled Ontario Bethany Presbyterian Church will be hosting its 21st annual stew feed from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the church.
