Leo W. Henderson
July 2, 1912 - Jan. 20, 2008



Ontario - Longtime Ontario resident Leo Warren Henderson, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008. Graveside services to celebrate Leo’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth, with Rev. Susan Howe, of Plymouth Congregational Church, New Plymouth, officiating. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.

Leo was born on July 2, 1912, in Eckley, Colo., to Bert and Emma Henderson. He married Leona Neuschwanger on March 2, 1935, in Denver, Colo., and moved to Ontario in 1937. Leo and Leona managed the Stanford Apartments until 1956. Leo worked for the Ontario Grocery Company, until his retirement in 1977, and for the Pix Theater until his mid-80s, enjoying the many generations of movie-goers and fellow employees.

He was a sports fan his whole life and played semi-pro baseball in his youth and played on local Ontario and Payette teams for many years, pitching as a lefty. He also bowled a great game for local leagues until his mid-80s. Leo served as treasurer for the First Baptist Church and was a member for over 60 years.

Leo is survived by his wife, Leona; daughters, Joan (Bob) Beavers, Kent, Wash., and Arlene (Dennis) Holbrook, New Plymouth, Idaho. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren include: Sara (Tim) Carter, Katy and Janet, Seattle, Wash.; Karl Beavers and Jayden and Ryan, Kent, Wash.; Pete (Caroline) Beavers and Haley and William, Kent, Wash.; Heidi (Bob) Neumiller, St. Peter, Minn.; and Carrie (Barry) Clot and Avery and Lauren, Nampa, Idaho.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Leo will be missed by all who knew him.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church in Ontario, c/o Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, ID 83661.
