Fruitland blows out Payette by 36

FRUITLAND — The Pirate boys basketball team fell to Fruitland 68-32 Tuesday.

Fruitland outscored the Pirates in every quarter and in every statistical category excluding turnovers which Payette led with 19.

The Griz shot 95 percent from the foul line going 18-of-19 on the night and 45 percent from the field going 24-for-55. However, Payette did have nine steals.

Griz Devin Decroo had 14 points and Matt Stanger had 12 points.

Fruitland jumped out to an early 17-9 lead in during the first eight minutes of play and by the break the Grizzlies had built a 16 point advantage leading 35-19.

Payette’s troubles continued in the second half of play, where they could only muster 13 points, while giving up 33 to Fruitland for the 36 point loss.

Fruitland will be back in action Friday with a road trip to McCall.

That game will tipoff at 8 p.m.

Payette will have a shot at redemption Saturday, when the Grizzlies come to the Pirates gym.
