Hillary Clinton treated unfairly by media
Editor,
Your news media on Hillary Clinton in my opinion has been very unfair. The women of America are the backbone of this country, and it’s time the people stood up and told these news men that they are there to report the news and to leave their opinion out of it.
I am an independent and what they think is of no concern of mine. I am a senior citizen and in all my years I have been voting, I have never seen such reporting.
You have a responsibility to the people, and you have not met this obligation. If the women of this country stand up, you will know it, sir. I have not made up my mind as to who should lead this country, but this will be my decision, not your reporters.’

Who is getting the golden egg?
Editor,
Mrs. Ballou’s terrible experience with filth and a chick in her hard boiled egg served by the Presbyterian Care Center is certainly something to get one’s feathers ruffled over! I wonder if that facility is gathering their eggs from the street chickens roaming within the block! Who’s taking advantage of free eggs and fleecing their pockets with golden eggs?

Support Cliff Bentz for state representative
Editor,
We strongly support Cliff Bentz for the appointment and election for Oregon State House District 60 Representative.
We have ranched in both Baker and Malheur counties for 35 years and have known Cliff Bentz the entire time. As a friend and a professional, Cliff has integrity, experience, a strong business sense and good family values.
With his background and hard-work ethics, he has the ability to meet challenges, make tough decisions and get the job done.
He would well represent the district across all county lines.
Cliff Bentz has served on numerous boards and committees representing all walks of life.
His background in agriculture and his experience have made him a valuable member of the Oregon Water Resources Commission, the 8-C School Board, Eastern Oregon University Foundation Board of Trustees, Project Dove, the Oregon Historical Society Board and numerous others.
He protects and is experienced in natural resources and water matters. Cliff is from a ranching family; he knows the issues we face here in Eastern Oregon and will go to work for us.
We will be giving Cliff Bentz our full support and hope that you will too. Please contact your county commissioners and give him your support. Cliff will do the best job for us in Salem; he represents the Eastern Oregon way of life and will fight to protect our interests and sustainability.

Nothing wrong with HRMC or Presbyterian Care Center
Editor,
After reading a letter to the editor on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, from a lady complaining about her stay in Holy Rosary hospital and Presbyterian Care Center, it is time to clear the air. Neither of these are filthy and unkempt! My husband was in both with a broken hip. Holy Rosary has a few problems but not cleanliness, and Presbyterian Care Center gave him the absolute best of care in every way. It was not only clean, but the people went out of their way to help him. The food was not stingy and was adequate. One could get a “bad egg” anytime and place, which no one has control over. These patients are on pain medicine, so my guess is she had cold food because she wasn’t awake when it arrived. And some people are on diets where they aren’t allowed some foods. Either way, Presbyterian is a great place to recuperate, and I have only good things to say about them!
