Senior center hosts New Year’s Eve dance

The Payette Senior Center will host a New Year’s Eve dance from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, at the center, 137 N. Main St. Dinner will be provided. The cost is $6, $5 for adults 60 and older.

The Nyssa Senior Citizens will be having a meeting at 11 a.m. Jan. 9. At 11:30 a.m., there will be a program, and at noon, a potluck — bring a dish to share or pay $3 per person. Boy Scouts offer Christmas tree removal

Boy Scout Troop 400 is performing its annual Christmas tree pickup. The stand should be removed from the tree, and the tree should be placed near the curb by 9 a.m. Jan. 12. Girls night out planned

Art fund-raiser fueled by Christmas trees

Members of The House That Art Built have a goal of providing free art for kids. To help fund this dream, the first Christmas tree firing pit party is scheduled for Feb. 2. Local potters will be donating their wares for an all-night pit firing fueled by donated Christmas trees. The finished pots will be sold by silent auction and on the Internet. The money raised will support the Kids & Art Program, scheduled to begin this summer.

U of I Extension to offer ‘Living on the Land’
classes
Fruitland, Emmett, Caldwell
The University of Idaho Extension is putting on a class series, “Living on the Land — Stewardship for Small Acreages.” The cost is $275 per two people. Evening classes will be available from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Caldwell and Fruitland. Afternoon classes from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. will be available in Emmett. The series runs from January to May.
