Umatilla - The Ontario Soccer team went to Umatilla on Saturday and set off a depth charge that blew a part any chance Umatilla might have had to score a goal.
Ontario blew them out of the water 6-0.
“We brought our defenders to the forward positions and everyone got to play and we had fun,” Ontario soccer coach Stacey Captein said.
Shawna Mcavoy scored with an Ashley Moeller assist seven minutes into the game, then Gracia Erlebach scored with an assist from Kim Boyd right before the second half.
Alla Dzhidzhiyeshvili and Crystal Lopez both scored twice in the second half.
“We had 14 shots on goal and they had zero. Megan Schram (Ontario’s goal keeper) only had her hands on the ball once,” Captein said. Schram had one save.
“I was happy that we got the opportunity to bring Lopez and Alla out because they work hard. We have some girls that don’t get a lot of play, and they played the majority of the second half. The girls had fun with it,” Captein said.
Ontario, 6-2-1 overall, next plays a rematch at Riverside Tuesday.
The game starts at 1 p.m. The game is for second place in league.
