Former Burnt River teacher arrested
UNITY (AP) — A high school teacher who resigned at the end of last school year was arrested this week on accusations that he sexually abused a 16-year-old girl.
Kolton Kock, 26, was arraigned Tuesday in Baker County and granted a conditional release.
Kock is accused of having sexual contact with the Burnt River High School student between May 21 and June 2. Kock left his job as vocational agricultural teacher in May and the Burnt River School Board accepted his resignation at its June meeting, Superintendent Robert Otheim said. The Burnt River position was Kock’s first teaching job, Otheim said. The superintendent had reported the allegations to the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission.
‘‘I did what was required by the law,’’ Otheim said. |
