William (Bill) Harry Hutchinson



Jan. 21, 1936 - Aug. 29, 2007

Fruitland

Bill was born in Cheyenne, Wyo., the second child of Harry and Ferne Hutchinson. Bill passed away on Aug. 29, 2007, in Fort Myers, Fla., surrounded by his wife and family.

He was raised in Fruitland. He was an active member of the Lions Club, Fruitland United Methodist Church, Walk to Emmaus, and participated in several other church and community activities. Bill graduated from Fruitland High School in 1954, and from the University of Idaho, Moscow, in 1959. He then taught Vocational Agriculture and was FFA Advisor in Vale and Redmond, and farmed in Fruitland.

Bill married Barbara on July 5, 1963. Together they raised 5 daughters; they have been blessed with 15 grandchildren. Bill was loved by friends and family.

Bill and Barbara moved to Elko, Nev., in 1988, where Bill was active in the Lions Club, Gideon’s, Walk to Emmaus, and a variety of other church and community activities.

Bill was diagnosed with Lewy body Dementia in 2005, after displaying symptoms and being misdiagnosed for several years. After an active life full of many adventures, Bill’s final adventure was traveling from Alaska to Florida in a motor home with Barbara, educating the world about Lewy Body Dementia. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; 5 daughters and their spouses; Janice Hutchinson, Laura and Joe Dirksen, Karen and Mike Peterson, Kristine and Zach Spencer, and Nadine and Kevin Freiburger; 15 grandchildren, Jimmy, Jason, and Janette Kerner; Jesse, Jacob, Jolie, and Jordan Dirksen; Joshua, Mesha, and Naomi Peterson; Nadia and Logan Spencer; and Ilyssa, Ty, and Kyra Freiburger; 2 brothers and their wives, Don and Lois Hutchinson, and Lester and Dawn Hutchinson, and 2 sisters, Polly Jean Mesenbrink and Ellen Kelly.

Viewing will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m Friday, Sept. 7, at the Shaffer Jensen Memorial Chapel, Fruitland. Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Fruitland United Methodist Church, interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery, New Plymouth.
