Masingill takes 10th at Colorado Senior Open

Local golfer Scott Masingill competed this past weekend in the Colorado Senior Open at Green Valley Ranch on the Saddleback Golf Club.

In the final day of the event, Masingill was paired with Mark Johnson and Ron Vlosich. Masingill finished ahead of both players shooting a third-round 72, which was one stroke better than both Johnson and Vlosich.

Masingill finished the event at four under 212, nine shots off the lead.

In the final round of play, Masingill began the day with a bogey on hole number one, but gathered himself nicely on the par five 534 yard second hole with a birdie.

He finished the front nine with a bird on seven, a par four 341 yard hole to put him one under on the day before starting the back nine.

On the back, Masingill played par through the first five holes, then ran into a little trouble on the 15 hole, logging a bogey.

“I drove the ball to the left and the ball came to rest in the long grass,” Masingill said. “My approach came to rest ten feet short of the pin.”

He then two putted for the Bogey.

“I struggled putting on a few holes, but all in all I am pleased with the game that I played.”

In the final three holes, Masingill shot par to end the day even and four under for the event.

“Overall I played real well. I was happy with the way I hit the ball.”
