OREGON - Search for two Mount Hood climbers yields

stash of gear

PORTLAND (AP) — Searchers looking for the bodies of two Mount Hood climbers found a stash of equipment Saturday just above where the climbers started their ascent to the summit, a search coordinator said.

In December, searchers said they believed the climbers had ‘‘gone light,’’ leaving behind equipment so they could climb faster.

Saturday morning, searchers found a pack, maps, a sleeping bag and other gear, said Russell Gubele, who was coordinating communications for a dozen teams searching around the 6,500-foot level.

Three climbers died after they made it to the summit of Mount Hood at 11,239 feet. See story Page A8.

Idaho Law School may

expand or move to Boise

BOISE (AP) — Faculty members and officials with the University of Idaho’s College of Law are considering ways to increase the college’s presence in Boise.

The college dean, Don Burnett, said all options are on the table — including moving the entire college from Moscow to Boise. But simply opening a second location or smaller institutes in the capital city may be a more likely option, he said.

FBI investigating whether NBA ref bet on games

(AP) — A point-shaving scandal is an enormous problem in any sport. This one, which might involve an NBA referee, has the potential to permanently scar the league.

The NBA acknowledged Friday the FBI is investigating Tim Donaghy for betting on games, including ones in which he officiated.

‘‘It’s a shame,’’ the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant said.
