Ontario - The Treasure Valley Community College women’s basketball team hosted close to 300 high school athletes at the Summer Slam team camp at John J. Easly Gymnasium in Ontario during the past two weekends.
Nineteen teams from across the region made their way to Ontario last weekend, and 10 more came this weekend to get an opportunity to take the court against other high school athletes and even test their skills against the best TVCC has to offer.
The camp featured stand out talent from Adrian, Vale, Nampa Christian, Ontario and Payette.
“From the two weeks we saw more good high-quality college prospects,” Chukars’ women’s head coach SuEllen Shurtliff said. “We want exposure for the kids this summer. I was pleased with what I saw.”
TVCC assistant coach Chris Schultz added that it gave some of the players a chance to get back on the court, as many have not played since the conclusion of the regular season in February and March.
“Basically what it was was an opportunity to play during the summer, play better and give everyone a chance to see the girls play again,” Schultz said.
