Nyssa Elementary to hire new principal

NYSSA - Nyssa School District Superintendent Don Grotting said Friday the search is on for a new elementary school principal.

Nyssa Elementary School Principal Geno Bates has held that position for about five years but announced he is leaving to take a job with the Fruitland School District as middle school principal.

“He did a great job, and I hope him the best in Fruitland,” Grotting said Friday.

Bates said Monday he enjoyed his time in Nyssa and looks forward to working in Fruitland.

“Nyssa is a great community and a great school district to work for, and I’m looking forward to this new opportunity with another great community and great school district,” Bates said.

Nyssa School District officials plan to interview the week of June 25, and Grotting said a candidate could be selected by the end of that week.

“We need to find someone that will not only keep the elementary school at the current high level it’s at, but move it forward also,” Grotting said.

Applications for the principal position have already begun streaming in — some have been “in-house,” Grotting said.

“We’ll do interviews and select the best applicant for the job,” Grotting said.

— The Nyssa School District received a $200,000 technology grant Thursday from the state, Grotting said.

Grotting said the news was exciting and the grant was highly competitive.

The grant will provide for SMART Boards, laptops, computer notepads for children and some instructional technology for teachers.

" These potato patties are pretty quick and good. Microwave them until they aren't cold anymore then, set them on the pancake grill to make them crispy. Add ketchup, toast, honey, sausage and an omelet. The best part of your day is about to be savored. "

" Your account of Richard Barlow's ordeal is appreciated. Whistleblowers also include people, like myself, that worked for those that were foreign nationals and by trusting U. S. government employees, brought disaster to themselves. Meanwhile, the Department of Defense made demands on foreign governments to stop proliferators. Thanks to Adrian Levy's recent book, I heard about Richard Barlow and I heard about the lying to Congress. Now I understand why my life was trashed. Perhaps someday my son will forgive me. "
